Consult 13/03

After the presentation today we had consult from mr. Parmentier.
We should do the exercise to go through all the design phases and see what we do in that phase, link function to material - touch and feeling. What happens when you use it? Where do you put it? How do you get one of the plates out of the whole? How would you lay them on the table? => different oriƫntation may mean different design for the modularity.

Also, where do we draw the line. For example in the brainstorm phase you can have inspiration from products, but maybe we'll say you have to take a picture of them then. And provide places to put these pictures.

It would be very interesting to let the system adapt to what you do, let it grow. Literally give storage space for example for small prototypes or inspirations. For example: put the hinges on a ruler on which it can slide more open or closed. Maybe we can give one component more different functions in this system. (reorganising parts)

For the size: if we see it as something you store in a rack, we should look there for the sizes. This is interesting because you shield also the prototype from others. (It is a known problem that prototypes might be found interesting by others, and things get missed. )
=> Both identification and storage are already in our concept.

A good tip is to start with the global product architecture & analysing the context.
Key words:
ADAPTIVE TO PROCESS: It's good that you don't have to bring each panel. We have to make it adaptive to the phase. Making 3D volumes would make a great difference.
STRUCTURE: How do you keep the structure? Do you take a conclusion from a previous phase to the next one?

Our plan after this consult is to think through all these steps and the product architecture, and on thursday we sit together to discuss.
