Consult with Davy: Idea for 3D shape and prototype is good  Now think where we need the volume and where not (wheight, cost !) Today we sat together to discuss and make decisions on our project so we could start prototyping again. Right now we are going for a small handle on the top that keeps the plates together. We also have some ideas for holding small prototypes in place: small pouches, perforated plates and wire... And for the sketches, how we'll store them also has different possibilities.  This week we'll test these ideas to see which one is best.  In this prototype we are testing how to make a 3D shape with plates. Also now we see the dimensions and will test the usage.

We discussed our ideas on the concept and on how to make a 3d shape of the plates. Our plan now is to have a prototype for next week, for which we'll look at the connections, materials, functionality of the phases... Our idea right now is to make a sort of folder for each phase (see picture, bottom right). To carry the box we want to make use of on or more straps to hold the box together and that you can put over your shoulder.

We sat together again this week to discuss the feedback from the presentation and what we could do with it. Our goal is to really implement the 3D aspect as well. So we brainstormed about this and are still looking for the best solution.

After the presentation today we had consult from mr. Parmentier. We should do the exercise to go through all the design phases and see what we do in that phase, link function to material - touch and feeling. What happens when you use it? Where do you put it? How do you get one of the plates out of the whole? How would you lay them on the table? => different oriëntation may mean different design for the modularity. Also, where do we draw the line. For example in the brainstorm phase you can have inspiration from products, but maybe we'll say you have to take a picture of them then. And provide places to put these pictures. It would be very interesting to let the system adapt to what you do, let it grow. Literally give storage space for example for small prototypes or inspirations. For example: put the hinges on a ruler on which it can slide more open or closed. Maybe we can give one component more different functions in this system. (reorganising parts) For the size: if we...

These are some of our sketches: Our Idea is a type of book where we can individually select sheets to put in or out of the book. These sheets help with the designprocess. At the start of the book there is a type of box to put in a prototype. this is more clear in the prototype we made. The acutal size of the book would be A3, when it is closed is is small so this is a good advantige for transport. This is the box to store in the prototype. We also want to make us of an ID cart with the info about the designer, prototype, important dates. Thes are all the sheets for the designprocess and to support it. there is also a link to INNOWIZ.

After consult we looked at each phase: what is important and how can we visualise this. These pictures show de visualisation of the design proces, combined with Innowiz.

Thomas Fiermans, Bert Maes and Michelle Vandepoele form group 7 in the material and process oriented design course. After the introduction of the project, we already started gathering some ideas and thoughts. Firstly we brainstormed about the different aspects of the design proces.
